Hello, my name is Roger and this is my story. Last year was a horrible year for me and I was living in a camper that was basically unfit to live in. I remember seeing a flyer from Compass about a program that helped with Housing and Employment.  I had less than perfect credit and was on a very limited income. Nevertheless, I was optimistic and eager to reach out and see if Compass could help me find appropriate housing.

The whole process took about three months. Joe my Compass Case Manager scheduled an appointment to complete an assessment to see if I met the qualifications. About 5 days later I got the call that I was qualified! I could finally feel some relief that there was a possibility I would not have to struggle through the winter on the streets. Over the next couple months we completed the necessary paperwork and searched week after week for housing within my budget. At that point I really just wanted anything.

Finally, in late November, we found a place in Castle Rock- about 10 miles up the road from Kelso- that fit my budgetary and geographical requirements.  I was excited to have somewhere to sleep that wasn’t my car. Now I am settled in my new place and everything is going well. I even hosted a New Year’s Eve party for my neighbors this year and was able to provide refreshments for everyone. It is nice to finally have a place to call home. Thank you Compass.
